When you make a monetary donation to GRRH, you are helping to lay a vital foundation for the Golden Retrievers we vow to rescue in the months and years to come.

Your contribution makes an enormous difference — you are helping to provide loving care for Golden Retrievers.

Your donations are used in a number of ways, including basic but comprehensive medical care that is provided for each Golden. This care includes veterinary examinations, spaying or neutering, vaccinations, heartworm tests, blood tests, dental work, diagnostic tests as indicated, and medications.

In addition, there are basic supplies needed, such as dog food, shampoo and crates, as well as administrative costs, including monthly charges for the telephone hotline and our website hosting.

However, the most significant expense is for medical procedures and treatment. Although we work with some veterinarians who provide a discount to GRRH for medical expenses — and to them we will be forever grateful — this does not relieve the burden of the staggering medical expenses for the Goldens that come into our program.

For example, heartworm treatment is one procedure that, unfortunately, is required for most Goldens that come into the program. Left untreated, it results in a slow and agonizing death. Our average cost for heartworm treatment is $500 for each Golden.

Many dogs that come into our program will have significant health issues — often caused by neglect or abuse. Treatment for injuries, wounds or disease resulting from this neglect or abuse can be truly staggering. It is only with your continued support that we can treat the deserving Goldens and continue our quest to rehabilitate them to the extent feasible.

In Memory or Honor of a Relative, Friend or Pet

Your gift commemorating a special occasion or achievement or honoring the memory of a special relative, friend or pet, is a wonderful and unique tribute that will help us provide our services to Goldens awaiting adoption.
