October 23, 2005 -  Yard Sale and Adoption Day

 

    The yard sale and adoption day was a huge success! Board member Trish Herrera's hot chocolate on the cool morning was a huge success, too!

 

October 15, 2005 - Fiesta De Oro

 

Guest dined on delicious Latin-fusion cuisine generously donated by Kat Mims of Kat’s Chow and Lynette Hawkins of la Mora Cucina Toscana. There was a wonderful silent auction and entertainment provided by Bob Smith http://www.comedymagicentertainment.com/ with 100% of the proceeds going to GRRH’s mission of saving Golden lives.

Fostering is an important part of GRRH's program and guests were invited to learn more about our foster program.

Guests were treated with pictures of the Goldens rescued in 2005...over 125 to date...and of earlier GRRH events.

Everyone enjoyed catching up and sharing stories about their Goldens and the Goldens that they have adopted or fostered.

Many fine and unique items were provided by our sponsors for the silent auction. Thanks to all who donated items!

October 1, 2005 - GRRH Day at Orvis

 

Orvis' Houston store manager Chad and fishing manager Marcos with GRRH dogs Bosley and Jessie at the October 1st GRHH Adoption Day during Orvis' Big Fall Sale. Orvis has been a great supporter of GRRH's efforts through events such as this and donations to our Fall Fundraiser's silent auction!  Thanks for your support guys!

There was lots of fun for everyone to enjoy including the wiener dog races, fat cat award, pet-look-a-like contest, K-9 demonstrations, Yappy Hour, flea market, and much more.

 

May 22, 2005 - “A Golden Summer in Tuscany” Dinner

Lynette Hawkins, renowned Chef/Proprietor of La Mora Cucina Toscana, 912 Lovett Boulevard, Houston, TX generously donated 100% of the proceeds of this event to Golden Retriever Rescue of Houston in honor of her recently lost Golden Retriever, Lucia. The food was GREAT and a good time was had by all.

 

May 15, 2005 - Second Annual Golden Reunion at Rover Oaks Pet Resort

A golden host of success stories gathered together for GRRH's 2nd Annual Reunion Picnic at Rover Oaks Pet Resort (http://www.roveroaks.com/) in their beautiful new Pavilion. We all enjoyed the sandwiches from Lenny's Sub Shop in the Woodlands, and our dogs LOVED the "Pup Cakes" provided by Kat Mims of Kat's Cat's Chow Catering.  In our newest Happy Ending, Chuck Caldwell picked up his two new puppies, Mickey and Minnie. Congratulations to the Caldwells and to the puppies.

May 7, 2005 - Be Kind to Animals Week - Houston's Bureau of Animal Regulation and Control (BARC)

April 28, 2005 - Dog-Gone Good Value Wines From Around The World

Specs Liquor Store's fine wine manager, "Bear" Dalton entertained and enlightened a full house at GRRH's first (of many, we hope) wine tasting. Guests sampled 12 outstanding wines from around the world, all with retail prices under $15. "Bear" delighted the audience with his personal stories of wine tastings around the world, unusual wine-food parings, and personal Texas dining-with-wine lore.

Five special guests dropped in for a little TLC and attention.

 

 

April 2, 2005 - Adoption Day - Paw Prints - Old Town Spring, TX

We had a great time! We had a reunion visit by CoCo and it was such a treat to see her again. She and her adoption family are getting along great! And, Leo was adopted at the event. A very successful day.

March 26, 2005 - Spring Bark - The Woodlands, Texas

A good time was had by all at The Woodlands' 1st annual Spring Bark fundraiser. The event included agility demonstrations, best costume contest, and plenty of doggy socializing.

There were lot's of opportunities to learn about other breeds and do a little socializing.

Dante, formerly Swayze and a GRRH graduate, with Stephanie Phillips and Chris McWeeney, tied for 4th place in pledges and they won a V (which they donated back to GRRH!) and a gift basket! Congratulations and THANK YOU for the generous donation!
