Hi there –

I just wanted to give you guys an update on Buck!  He is doing great and loves all the attention from all of our neighborhood friends!  Other than my son being totally obsessed with Buck, things are absolutely wonderful!

Thanks again and Happy Holidays!

Take care,

Dear GRRH,

Lucas spent his first Christmas (2007) with his adoption family, Joel, Kelly, and Lizzy. Lucas and Lizzy had a blast playing on the Surfside Beach where we spent the Christmas Holidays.

                                                       Happy Holidays!

Hello, All,

We just wanted to take the time to thank you again for Jessie!  She is an absolute dream!

Jessie joined our family on December 30, 2006.  Since that day she has proven to be a loving, smart, and playful companion!  We call her the ‘Bonus Dog’ because she has continued to amaze us everyday with her intelligence!  We never know what she will impress us with next!

Attached is our latest Christmas photo of Jessie!  She is a real sweetheart!  Thank you again!

Happy Holidays!

Just in case someone wants to know how Goldens have fun…two's always better than one! With the colder weather they have been exhibiting a serious case of the "zoomies" (the uncontrolled urge to run around in the backyard at the speed of light, tackling each other like linebackers, while tugging on any toy or dog handy).

I am recovering nicely from surgery - and Meg and Max have been my constant companions while I've been home from work - what a treat!  I'm loving spending all day and night with these two!

Thanks again GRRH, for bringing these wonderful animals into our lives!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Campbell has adjusted to his new home very well. We have met the cattle, (unexpectedly), and after a blinding chase, he is okay with them. This picture was taken this morning after we've had our retrieving exercise in the pond you see in the background. He seems to love water.

Another picture of Campbell taken this morning just after our romp in the pond before his bath. I've found one thing for sure, this guy is a 6 to 8 towel a day guy. He loves water and rolling in the mud! We're all having a great time! Thanks again.

Maverick & Marley are doing well.  We have been attending some training sessions to become pet therapy dogs and the next certification class is in February, so wish us luck.  The dogs went through some rigorous training with a K-9 officer for four weeks and wow what a difference!  They were well behaved before, but now they are absolutely amazing!

Sincerely,

Happy Holidays to everyone at GRRH!!!!

Hi Karen and Madison!

Just wanted to tell how Abby is doing. On the way home, she was generous with her kisses: Brandy got her share, as did Randy and I.

She and Brandy played a few tentative games of chase, and explored our outside dog area until they were tuckered out. Abby instantly became my shadow around the house and is never more than a few feet away from me.

The fun came at bedtime, when Brandy and Abby got into their first real game of "bitey face". It was rough and tumble for a while! Brandy is thrilled to have a big sister who wants to play with her.

When it was time to turn in, Abby happily took possession of the deluxe dog bed that I had explained to her was hers. She and Brandy were up at 5:30 a.m. playing.

To quote Humphrey Bogart: I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship!

Jordan has been sleeping really well and being a great boy! Today will be true test cause I have a lot of work so he will be with me but I can't play.....

Forbes has put on weight and is looking terrific as you can see.  This was just after his first professional grooming.  Boy was he feeling frisky after that.

We get so many compliments on what a wonderful, beautiful dog he is and we just feel so fortunate that we found him.  Thank you so much once again!

Looks like Ms. Nikki is really starting to “be at Home” here with us & Blaze, this morning I got her to go outside just by voice command & she didn’t tremble at all!

She also started to get into to tug of war with Blaze with the rope toy & is starting to take interest in the stuffed toy’s also.

Thanks

Max, Maddie and Marty running as fast as they can!

Hi Pam and everyone at GRR I thought you might like to see the kids in action out at the dog park. Marty has actually been successful in teaching Max how to play…something Max never really seemed to get.

Dear GRRH-

Just wanted to let you know that Kramer continues to do very well.  Attached is a recent photo from one of the dog parks in San Antonio.  He now has three large black spots on his tongue!  They've stopped growing, so hopefully he has too!  He's almost as tall as the Great Danes that go to his day care!  The second photo is from the Pawderosa Ranch Doggie Play and Stay where he hangs out a couple of days a week.

Sincerely-

Hello GRRH,

Hope things are going well at GRRH this holiday season.  Just thought I would check in with you all and give you an update on our pup.  We adopted Scarlet last December.  I can't believe it has been almost a year that Scarlet came into our lives and I thank GRRH every day.  It feels like she has been with us for years.  We love her so much and she is such a huge part of our family.  She is doing really well and is just a super happy, healthy little girl.  I wanted to share a picture of her along side one of my other dogs enjoying a cup of Frosty Paws (doggy ice cream).  Yes, she has us wrapped around her little paws!

Take care and thank you again!

Hello to all!

Just wanted to give you an update on Penny and thank all of you at GRRH. At first we were a little hesitant about adopting a 3 year old golden. What were we thinking, Penny weighs 106!  Penny quickly helped us figure out what she needed. Love and companionship. Her manners are incredible. She is completely trained and housebroken. We feel so fortunate to have her in our family. We have another golden, Ginger, that is now 7.  At first there was a two-week adjustment for Penny and Ginger, but now they have the same behavior and can't be without each other. Our vet really helped us with some insight on how to make the adjustment go well for Ginger.

I'm happy to say Penny has slimmed down.  She has learned to "keep up" with Ginger chasing balls and running around with the boys. We have no problem leaving Penny and Ginger in the house, letting them have access to everything. They both nap during the day in their favorite spots, right next to each other!

When we count our blessings this Thanksgiving we count Penny twice!  We are so blessed to have her with us. God Bless GRRH!

Hi everyone,

We just wanted to let you know that Nike is doing great. He loves his tennis balls and long walks. The cats are slowly coming around and getting used to him. Nike has loved them from the start but they have been reluctant to share their house with a dog! Thanks for everything.

Shadow is doing well. He is enamored with our Cockatiels and knows how to place his order for dinner. He has already made himself quite at home  Also, it didn't take him long to figure out which corner of the couch is his and found his spot on the bed...between the two of us!

He is a great Golden. We are glad you let us adopt him so fast.

Good Morning,

Buddy is doing great! I haven't stopped smiling at him since yesterday. Just want to give you guys a quick update. He rode well on the way to Pet's Mart. We had a nice "chat" as well. Got there, and he was ready to go. I see what you mean about "trotter horse!" He was "the belle of the ball" at the store while we picked up several things and we signed up for beginner's obedience class. At home, only one big WOOF at one of the cats, he's so curious about them, but that's all.

Thank you all again

Hi,

I'm emailing some pictures of Jeremy as well as pictures of Cinnamon and Lexi.  Jeremy is doing great.  We are so happy to have him in our family.

Thank you for allowing us to be a part of Jeremy's life and provide him with a safe and loving home.  Once he is feeling better after his surgery, we will bring him to one of GRRH's events so everyone can see him.

Sincerely,

Chloe is such a sweet dog. Though we had a rough beginning (our Golden Copper and girl Shepherd mix Rosie each gave her a nip at the nose), we are now a happy family.  Rosie and Chloe are sleeping on top of each other and playing endlessly. Chloe just learned how to properly swim from Copper over the weekend. Now we will have two Goldens chasing for a ball in the swimming pool and Chloe is fast!! Our son Nate loves to snuggle with Chloe and they love to play tennis balls together. Chloe was napping with Nate over the weekend on our bed. Thanks GRRH for letting us adding a new member to the family!!

PS:  Chloe now has her own website : http://www.dogster.com/dogs/618149

Love,

Hi,

We adopted Rose on July 30th 2005.  She’s a part of our family now and she’s grown into a beautiful little girl.  She weights about 40 pounds and she loves to go on walks, play fetch and just hang out with her family.

Thank you so much for getting us together with her!

Hello!!

Just wanted to send a note and let ya'll know how much we are enjoying Nutmeg. She is the perfect dog for us. She is so well behaved and so good with our kids, they LOVE her!! We are so grateful to GRRH for letting us adopt her. THANKS again!!!

--- The Thomas Family

We are so excited to have Chester (was Lester) with us. He continues to bring great joy to our family and all that meet him. Thank you for finding Chester and bringing him into our lives. Our Vet Clinic is so amazed at how wonderful he is. The groomers are in love with him and have been amazed at his progress. Everyone has been so wonderful through this process, we will definitely adopt again and again from this organization

He was a skinny thing when he first came to our home, all of 49 lbs. He did well through his heartworm treatment and is up to 65.5 lbs. Chester loves his toys but a ball will take his attention away from anything. He just has not figured out how he can eat and have a ball in his mouth at the same time.  With his soft squeaky toys he will run around the house making all the noise he can and look just like a bucking horse. Chester loves to be any where you are. He had trouble at first getting into the SUV but now all you have to do is open the gate and he is in the back ready for a ride - anywhere is fine, even if it is to back the car up in the driveway.

Isabelle "Izzy" when she came to GRR.

Izzy today.

Dear Golden Retriever Rescue,

A quick thanks for our Golden opportunity!!

I recently found Izzy's file folder and realized its been four years since she first walked into our home with Ms. Patti Page. On August 6th, 2003 Patti delivered Isabelle for us to foster, which of course, we adopted in October. (officially)!!

Izzy was sooo skinny you could count her ribs. She weighed 57 lbs., needed heartworm treatment and lots of love. Dr. Mark VanNess of Greenway Animal Clinic treated her August 11th &12th of 2003. August 17th she experienced complications and after a visit to The Campbell Emergency Clinic I was asked to say "goodbye to her"!! No way, I was not ready, and for sure Izzy was not ready either.

Izzy survived and is happy, healthy, and spoiled as ever…like she is supposed to be.  I want to thank the organization that you are and the commitment you have to giving a deserving life another chance.  It’s been nothing but great and wonderful times with her and an infinite amount of love, both ways.  If it were not for the Golden Retriever Rescue and everything you do I would not have ever met Izzy!!  So thank you very much.

Sincerely,

--- Sheryl, Bryan & Izzy

Hi ,

Here are some new pictures of Macy. As you can see she turned out to be a beautiful girl. We get compliments about her almost every time we go walking at the park or in the neighborhood. No one can believe that she is part golden. She may not look like a golden retriever but she sure does act like one. Macy always wants to have at least one paw on you and a toy in her mouth.

Thanks for doing what you do!

Buddy weighed in at the Lovers Lane animal Hospital last week and is now 89 lbs. If you remember his starting weight was 108! Everyone applauds after he weighs in...much like Jenny Craig! He is still soaking in the pool; however, he is much more active than he was when we picked him up from his foster family in Houston. We ADORE him.

Thank you so much for doing what you do and putting Golden Retrievers with families who really love them and want them!

Hello Everyone,

You may know me as Princess Jasmin, but my new name is Bella!  I love my new family. I have a big sister and when I say big I mean big!! She is a Mastiff named Mattie and we sure do have fun together! Mom and Dad take us to the beach, the Bark Parks, to stores with things just for pets and to our new house we are building. We go to Houston to see my human brother and sister too.

They think I am cute!  I ride in the car really good.

I get lots of love; hugs, kisses and cuddling, And, late at night dad lets me sneak in at the foot of the bed to sleep for a little while. I feel more secure like that! I am sending you pictures from this past week and will see you in person sometime too.

Thank you so much for finding me a new family and for all the work you do to make Goldens have happier lives.

Love,

---Bella Steele

Dear GRRH:

Our Goldens definitely bring good luck; we won the GRRH raffle at the Reliant Dog show two years in a row! Last year’s prize was the Goldens sign in the background and this year we won the huge basket overflowing with great doggie toys and golden goodies.  The best prize ever is getting to share our lives with these two wonderful dogs.  They have brought so much fun and happiness into our lives.  They are great friends and playmates; tug-of-war is their favorite pastime. Thanks so much to Tom, Madison, Patti, Joanie, Candy’s foster parents Catherine and Charlie and everyone at GRRH for their hard work helping Goldens in need.

Sasha is a very happy girl and is doing great. She is so sweet and eager to please. I think she is a good match for Tyler, he romps around playing with her and Sasha just wags her tail in contentment. We appreciate GRRH completing our family!

GRRH - folks!

Keith and I just wanted to say again.........THANKS THANKS THANKS   for helping to bring Meg and Max (be sure to see their "before and after" pictures on the Available page of our website) into our lives - they are our world! Meg has now learned to "sing" at the alarm clock to make sure we get up in the mornings.  She barks twice when she wants to go out and once when she wants to play....she is always making us laugh and she LOVES hugs!

Max is more of the silent type but he has transformed from a "loner" personality to "Mister Affection"!  He "dances" when we get home, grabs his favorite toy and snuggles up to us for petting, then will sit and "beg" for petting (or treats) by sitting up and raising is right paw or literally sitting on his back legs and raising both paws in a "begging" gesture...

We didn't teach him these things but they are so cute - they work great on us....We simply can't say no when he does this!

These guys are our joy and delight and we can't wait to get home to them each night. What a treat.

Your program ROCKS!  Thank you for letting us be a part of your family and your dogs a part of ours!

---  Lisa & Keith, Meg and Max

We wanted to send some pictures of Tex in his new home and let you all know that he is doing great! We are overjoyed by the way he has fit right in and are so thankful to have found such a sweet boy. He is a terrific addition to our family, even our 3 year old dog (Cole) loves having him around! Thank you for matching Tex up with us and thank you for all you do at GRRH!

Sincerely,

                            --- Carl and Sonja

I thought I would attach a photo of Marty with the wide array of toys he found to play with today at Grandma and Grandpa's house while his new mommy ran to work. Marty seems to be adapting very quickly.   He's having fun chasing the big dogs, and trying to win over his new older sister.

It was good to see you yesterday at the book signing supporting Golden Retriever Rescue.  I have attached a picture of Cheyenne (now named Jenny) born 11/30/05.  We adopted her the first week of February I believe.  This picture was taken 01/2007.  She is now 80 lbs but healthy and a great companion.

GRRH,

We just wanted to send you thanks and update on Zoe (now Zoey). She is doing great and has been just about the best dog we could have ever imagined! In fact her name tag says “Best dog in the world” on it just in case anyone cannot see that! Sweet, smart, loyal, funny, and playful are just a few words that come to mind. As you may recall she was a tad bit overweight when she arrived but diet and regular visits to the park have quickly taken care of that. Here’s a picture of her posing on her favorite rock.

Thank you so much!

I have been thinking about you guys at GRRH and hoping that everything is going well.  We are still so crazy about Madison!  We say all the time that we can’t imagine who in the world would want to get rid of her!  We are so grateful to you guys for placing her in our home!!!!

We wanted to send some photos and give you an update on Tyler. We adopted him in Jan 2007.  Tyler has settled in to his new home and he's a happy pup!  My 10 year old daughter really loves him.  He's full of puppy energy even though the vet says he's over 1 1/2 years. He pounces like a cat and likes to wrestle around on his back - his favorite playing position. He was very nervous at first and spun in circles a lot. He still does that when he is uncomfortable with something. He is sleeping in our bedroom and knows to settle down at night…he just goes and crashes in his spot. He has a new doggy bed, but he prefers the floor in the corner.   When in the game room he'll curl up in an old kiddy sized yellow bean bag which is too small for him. His head often hangs off but he doesn't seem to care.  My daughter will go over and put a pillow under his head....what a big "BAAABY."

Truman in his new home.

Cooper came through his heartworm treatment very well and is currently midway through an obedience class.  He has put on a little weight as a result of feeling better and getting lots of love and food.  He is very eager to please and learning quickly.  He has become fast friends with Lilly, our beagle, and the two of them run around and wrestle all day long.  Cooper has a little plastic kiddy pool that he loves to lay in and “snorkel” in.  We are so pleased he came to us and thankful for your organization.

Thanks for allowing us to have such a loving little dog. She is starting to fill out a little. She and Ginger played ball in the back yard until they both were pooped. They both slept like rocks and they didn't want to get up this morning. Ginger has never been a morning dog and Poppy is getting to be just like her.

Joanie, I owe GRRH a huge thanks and appreciation for allowing me to give Chloe (now Daisy) a forever home -- adopted July 28, 2006. She has been an absolute joy. She is loving our daily playtime in the parks and my pool. She is also having a blast hanging out at a pasture with a herd of horses. She remains high energy (I love that) and a great companion. She recently passed temperament testing at Caring Critters and is officially a pet therapy dog. We will be providing smiles to children at Texas Children's Hospital. I am considering additional activities (Frisbee, agility and jumping off docks!). I also want to express my genuine appreciation to Ann for fostering her and Ann has been of great assistance since the adoption.

My warmest regards,

     --- Brian

Gina, sorry we didn’t get a chance to call back on Sunday, we’ve been having too much fun with Hemingway! We took him to parks and on good long walks through the Blue Bonnets this weekend and he was great. He’s gone running with us every day and loves it. All in all, its going great. Here’s a couple of pictures of him with Jonah after a LONG walk through Herman Park and riding around in the car.

                                                       Thanks!

Hi Joanie and GRRH,

Thought you might enjoy this perfect pose (1st photo) from our Ranger (adopted April 2006).  I’m lucky I snapped it when I did because, moments later, he went tearing through a mud hole with his Gordon Setter buddy, Flynn!  Ranger really enjoys his weekends in the country and gets a lot of exercise by keeping the cows from crossing some invisible line that only he can see.  No matter, they follow his orders!  Small wonder he has to rest up during the work week (2nd photo) with his cat, Kenya.

We can never thank you enough for this dog!
